On Saturday, the first day of December, an entire community will come together to support eleven people. Eleven.
They are veterans. All of them were wounded or injured in the line of duty, but these eleven are special. They are Wyakin Warriors, members of a growing group of severely wounded or injured veterans who have not only faced their physical challenges head on; they have made the decision to overcome them and move forward.
And why shouldn’t they?
The Guardian Ball is sold out. 670 people have signed up to support the veterans. They have already supported them financially; on Saturday they will just plain support them. And in the process they will celebrate the Wyakin Warriors’ decision to continue to participate and contribute.
After all, that is what makes a community a community.
