Reflections of a Plank Owner

0

In the last few days I have made a few connections with old shipmates from the commissioning crew of USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73), and thought it was just an odd coincidence. But today I got an email from another Plank Owner who reminded me that this is the twentieth anniversary of the mighty GW’s commissioning. Appropriately, she was commissioned on July 4th, in 1992. For those who have never seen the commissioning of a carrier, it is an incredible, splendid event. Dave Petri, formerly of the Reactor Department, sent me a link to his blog that described the day. It is an excellent article and worth the read. His blog is called “Random and Sustainable”, and the article’s title is, “Reflections of a Plank Owner.” (Click on the link to read it.)
