The last day of the year is full of fun, family and friends. It is right and proper that we should celebrate the good things in life, the promise of the new year, and the blessings we have received.
But don’t forget those who are out there still, far from home, serving us and keeping us safe. Don’t forget those who serve in our communities this evening to make our lives better and to keep the dark forces away from our families.
They all have families too, and tonight they are missing them. Their sacrifice is one of the most powerful and meaningful blessings we receive – not just on New Year’s eve, but all year long.
