It is about time. One of the most inspiring initiatives I have seen in recent years have been the Honor Flights, in which World War II veterans are flown to Washington, D.C. to visit the World War II Memorial (among other significant monuments). Now, Honor Flights have been expanded to include Korean War and Vietnam War veterans.
Most Vietnam veterans will tell you that they never received a proper welcome home. No parades, no speeches, no signs held high saying, “Welcome Home!” Instead, they were often told to remove their uniforms after arriving back in the United States, to avoid being harassed or threatened. It was a shameful period in American history.
Now, Honor Flights attempts to correct that injustice. Watch this video and you will see how much that welcome home means to these men who served their country with honor.
