Reckless and the men she served (From Leatherneck Magazine)
I had not heard this story before, but thanks to my veteran friend Michael, I have now.
Reckless was a real war horse, adopted by the Marines in Korea and used to transport heavy rounds of ammunition for the Recoilless Rifle Platoon, Antitank Company, Fifth Marine Regiment.
Her adventures can be read in detail in an article by Nancy Lee White Hoffman for Leatherneck Magazine (click here).
Or, for a shorter version of the story of Reckless, just watch this video.
