Memorial Day weekend. What does it mean to you? A three day weekend, or a chance to catch up on some yard work? Think about what the day signifies.
Officially created in 1868, the day was intended to pay our respects to those who have fallen in defense of our country. So this weekend, take a few minutes to reflect on the sacrifices thousands of young Soldiers, Airmen, Sailors, Marines and Coastguardsmen have paid to keep us free.
Fly your flags proudly for all to see, or place them on the graves of those who served. At 3PM on Memorial Day is the National Moment of Remembrance, during which we pause to remember our fallen heroes. If you listen carefully you may hear Taps being played at a nearby veterans cemetary.
Memorial Day is the day we must remember for what it is, and for what it stands.
These videos do a good job of reminding us.
